Farmiloe Building, SW1
Client: Standard Life Insurance
Use: Commercial Office
Units: 65,000 sq.ft
The Farmiloe Building is a Grade II listed building owned until recently by the same family since the 1860’s then used as a glass works. The proposed development includes adaptation of the original building for use as office use (B1) whilst restoring and retaining the original features, along with the construction of a new sister office building on the same site.
In order to build out the scheme, eb7 reviewed the technical requirements, noting that the demolition works and installation of piled retaining walls would be notifiable under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. The site itself is very congested and sits within in a designated area of special character in the London Borough of Islington. As such eb7 have worked closely with the project team, and in particular the demolition contractor and project engineer, to evaluate risk to adjoining structures and ensure that work methods are sensitive to the site environment and neighbouring interests.
Our involvment has included:-
- Boundary Report
- Service of Party wall Notices
- Detailed Schedules of Condition within the adjoining properties
- Agreement and service of Party Wall Awards to authorise notifiable works
